Chromite: Turkey has been one of the major
chromite and chromite concentrate producing and exporting countries. Chromite is found
almost throughout Turkey. Turkish chromite is known to be the best quality for metallurgy.
Copper: In Turkey, the Black Sea
Copper Works (KBI) is the sole producer of copper. Ore production is 3.4 million tons and
blister copper production is 50,000 tons, boosted by recent technological improvements at
KBI.
Lead and Zinc: Lead and zinc
deposits in Turkey are mainly distributed around the Biga Region where there are more than
200 known lead, zinc and copper deposits. Zinc metal has been produced mainly from
Etibank's Kayseri based Cinkur plant.
